  1. 19:25 < gbee> gardengnome: could you be doing something when packaging mythtv that might screw up
  2.               the line numbers? e.g. stripping headers or something?

  4. 19:46 < gbee> skamithi: patch seems to work
  5. 19:47 < sphery> gbee: Or, perhaps, they're applying patches that change the line numbering...
  6. 19:49 < gbee> sphery: that was my first thought, but I couldn't think why they would be doing that
  7. 19:50 < gbee> not to tv_rec.cpp at least
  8. 19:50 < gbee> brb

  15. 20:40 < gardengnome> gbee: -O3?
  16. 20:41  * gbee shrugs
  17. 20:42 < gbee> are you using -O3?
  18. 20:43 -!- DaveMorris [[email protected]-212-158-244-26.bulldogdsl.com] has left #mythtv []
  19. 20:45 < gbee> I remember there was a packager using a pre-build script which removed unused
  20.               includes at one point, messed up the line nums
  21. 20:46 < gardengnome> gbee: we're using --enable-proc-opt
  22. 20:46 < gardengnome> gbee: we don't do any pre-build stuff like that.
  23. 20:47 < gbee> it's not really important what the cause was I suppose, only that the backtrace
  24.               wasn't particularly useful because the line number was incorrect and I could see no
  25.               obvious point in the surrounding code where QString::length() would come into play
  26.               directly
  27. 20:48 < gardengnome> i've been told in the past that -O3 will mess up line numbers.
  28. 20:49 < Chutt> more than just line numbers
  29. 20:49 < Chutt> it'll tell you completely wrong files/functions, too :p
  30. 20:49 < gardengnome> ooooh
  31. 20:49 < gardengnome> -O3 is a perfect to be upstream-friendly then
  32. 20:49 < Chutt> depends on how things got inlined/etc
  33. 20:49 < gardengnome> you guys love good riddles
