- Xorg 7.2 was installed from ports in accordance with what is in UPDATING from an up-to-date ports tree (portsnap fetch update). Compiz 0.5 was installed from ports as well. I'm using the following to start up compiz:
- compiz --replace gconf &
- gtk-window-decorator --replace &
- following active_plugins: gconf,png,svg,decoration,wobbly,fade,minimize,cube,switcher,move,resize,place,rotate,zoom,scale,dbus
- As above turning off DamageEvents works with some degree of performance degradation (not terrible for screensavers, but more intense things like google earth are harder hit).
- Here's the report log. I've got compiz enabled during the run, but no other GL apps running on top. To get the behavior described with DamageEvents & Compiz running just run either:
- /usr/compat/linux/usr/X11R6/bin/gears
- /usr/local/bin/xscreensaver-hacks/gears
- The former gets:
- 6 frames in 12.294 seconds = 0.488043 FPS
